Tenn- We motored from Miami Fla. making various stopovers,- to see friends, and visit historical and scenic spots. Mrs Carnahan motored with us from her home in Rome, Ga. and stayed at Hotel in Chattanooga with us while we were seeing things of interest in and around Chatanooga. Mother on right with her map blowing about her hand. I am next, and at my side Mrs Carnahan, Moccasin Bend shows a very little below us. Darling Chas. always liked to get in perilous places, and in the photo stands on top of the umbrella. The cold wind was so penetrating and strong it almost blew us over the bank. This is June 2-1930. Chas. gone over 4 years and 3 mos. Mrs Cornahan gone. We two frail ones left to fight on. Mt Eagle road was notoriosly bad at that time. It took a long time to reach the summit, where we spent a night. Up there mother remarked to another elderly woman that she just celebrated her 80th birthday by taking an airplane ride- The other said well, I am 92- She lived near Chicago and had motored to Fla with son and dau and was on the way home.
